Musterbridge

From uniform to federal IT— without restarting your career.

A career-transition academy for retiring service members and veterans who held signal, communications, network, server, help-desk, or senior enlisted IT leadership roles — built so you can translate Army Signal Corps experience, NCO leadership, and active security clearances into the GS-2210 IT Specialist series and into cleared defense-contractor roles.

The System

Six mission modules, not a one-shot résumé edit.

Musterbridge is a complete transition system, not a generic résumé service. Each module is delivered as a worksheet, template, roadmap, or plan you keep after the cohort ends.

  • Decode uniform language into federal language
Worksheets translate Army Signal Corps, NCO, and MOS-specific experience into the GS-2210 IT Specialist narrative that USAJOBS reviewers and defense-contractor recruiters actually read.
  • Translate NCO leadership and clearances
A guided playbook shows how to frame platoon sergeant, section chief, and senior-enlisted leadership — plus active security clearances — for federal and cleared technical panels.
  • Federal-grade résumés for USAJOBS and primes
Templates built around the federal résumé format, specialized for the GS-2210 series and for cleared defense-contractor pipelines — not a generic résumé rewrite service.
  • Certification roadmap: Microsoft, VMware, CompTIA
A sequenced path through Microsoft, VMware, and CompTIA tracks, mapped to GS-grade expectations and to the certifications cleared-staffing firms actually ask for.
  • GS-grade and locality-pay comparison
Side-by-side comparisons of GS grade, step, and locality pay so you can evaluate offers against your actual target market — not just the headline salary.
  • A personalized 90-day application plan
Members finish with a 90-day federal and defense-contractor application plan, including USAJOBS filters, veteran-preference strategy, and cleared-recruiter introductions.

From Uniform to Federal IT

Eight-week cohort curriculum.

The flagship cohort, led by Johnnie Pippin, is sequenced so every week produces a working artifact you can submit — not a binder you finish later.

  1. Week 01

    Inventory your uniform record

    • Translate MOS, NCOERs, and signal-section assignments
    • Map responsibilities to GS-2210 series elements
    • Identify clearance status, caveats, and reactivation options
  2. Week 02

    Federal-language fundamentals

    • Read GS-grade and series language the way HR does
    • Build the federal résumé outline that survives USAJOBS filters
    • Stop mixing contractor jargon with federal jargon
  3. Week 03

    Specialized résumé templates

    • USAJOBS federal résumé, defense-contractor variant, and cleared-staffing variant
    • Inject quantifiable scope, leadership, and clearance language
    • Adapters for Army Signal Corps, 25-series, and senior-enlisted tracks
  4. Week 04

    Certification sequencing

    • Microsoft, VMware, and CompTIA priority order
    • Map each cert to GS-grade expectations and contractor demand
    • Plan exam windows inside the 90-day application sprint
  5. Week 05

    GS-grade + locality-pay comparison

    • Compare GS grade, step, and locality pay against target market
    • Read a GS offer letter — leave, FEHB, FEGLI, and step increase rules
    • Spot red flags in contractor offer letters
  6. Week 06

    Federal + technical interview prep

    • Question bank for federal panels and cleared technical panels
    • Walk-through answers for NCO-to-supervisor transitions
    • How to talk about clearances without over-disclosing
  7. Week 07

    Veterans’ preference + cleared pipelines

    • How veterans’ preference actually scores in USAJOBS
    • Recruiter partnerships with cleared-staffing firms and federal IT hiring programs
    • Submitting to both pipelines in parallel
  8. Week 08

    Your 90-day application plan

    • A week-by-week federal and defense-contractor application sprint
    • USAJOBS filters, USA Staffing, and direct-agency submissions
    • Weekly check-in cadence with the cohort lead

Your cohort lead

Johnnie Pippin. Twenty-five years of Army IT, then federal GS.

Johnnie is a 25-year Army IT specialist, a former Forward and Battalion Signal Section Chief, and a current federal GS employee. He carries server and virtualization experience plus Microsoft, VMware, and CompTIA industry certifications — and he built Musterbridge so retiring NCOs and Signal Corps veterans can move into cleared work without spending ten years re-doing their résumé.
